Insulin Resistance Symptoms

Insulin resistance symptoms are a message from your body, telling you that you are in a serious danger zone and need to make changes.

On the surface of the cells of your body are insulin receptors that regulate the inflow of blood sugar. After years of eating a high-glycemic diet, these cells become damaged by over-exposure to excessive insulin and begin to malfunction and shut down completely.

The result of this is that fat cells, muscle cells, and liver cells become resistant to insulin and normal levels of insulin aren't adequate to produce a normal response. The cells require higher and higher quantities of insulin to achieve any response.

Insulin resistance in fat cells results in the breakdown of stored triglycerides, which elevates free fatty acids (cholesterol)in the blood. Insulin resistance in muscle cells reduces glucose absorption which keeps sugar levels high in the blood and insulin resistance in the liver cells reduces glucose storage, which also raises blood glucose levels.

Overwork Breaks Down Your Pancreas

The beta cells in your pancreas sense the high levels of glucose in the blood and they go into overdrive to produce greater quantities of insulin in an attempt to bring blood sugar levels back to normal. Most of the time this extra insulin brings things back under control, but only for awhile, until the pancreas becomes overstressed.

The pancreas can only operate in excess production mode for a limited time before it gives up and then the pancreas loses all ability to produce any more insulin at all.

However, while the pancreas is still producing insulin, but basically overproducing, the increased insulin is setting the stage for future problems, although initial insulin resistance symptoms (prediabetes) are usually not noticed until diabetes occurs. Then, symptoms are obvious. People with severe insulin resistance may have dark patches of skin, usually on the back of the neck. Sometimes they may have a dark ring around the neck. Other possible sites for these dark skin patches are elbows, knuckles, knees and armpits.

Some other insulin resistance symptoms may be slightly noticeable, but not severe enough to raise any concern. Here's a natural product that can help you with insulin resistance symptoms. Such symptoms may be:

1. Fatigue is by far the most common symptom of insulin resistance, making ome feel worn right out. Some are tired just in the morning or afternoon, others are exhausted all day.

2. Brain fogginess. Sometimes the fatigue of Insulin Resistance is physical, but often it's mental and results in an inability to focus. Poor memory, loss of creativity, poor grades in school often accompany Insulin Resistance, as do various forms of "learning disabilities."

3. Low blood sugar(hypoglycemia) Mild, brief periods of low blood sugar can occur during the day, especially if meals are not eaten on a regular schedule. But prolonged periods of hypoglycemia, accompanied by other symptoms mentioned here, especially physical and mental fatigue, are not normal.

Feeling agitated and moody is common in insulinrResistance, with quick relief once food is eaten.

4. Intestinal bloating. Most intestinal gas is produced from carbohydrates in the diet. Insulin Resistance sufferers who eat carbohydrates suffer from gas, lots of it.

5. Sleepiness. Many people with insulin resistance get sleepy immediately after eating a meal containing a fair amount of carbohydrates. This means typically a grain/pasta meal, or a meat meal which includes things like potatoes, bread and sweet dessert.

6. Increased weight/fat storage. In males, a large abdomen is the most common and earliest sign of Insulin Resistance. In females, it's prominent buttocks.

7. Increased triglycerides. High triglycerides in the blood are often found in overweight persons, but even those who are not overweight may have stores of fat in their arteries due to insulin resistance.

These triglycerides are the direct result of carbohydrates in the diet being converted by insulin.

8. Increased blood pressure. Most people with hypertension are insulin resistant. It is often possible to show a direct relationship between the level of insulin and blood pressure: as insulin levels elevate, so does blood pressure.

9. Depression. Carbohydrates are a natural downer, and it is common to see depressed persons who also have insulin resistance.

Diabetes is a Slow Killer

Of course when diabetes occurs, the following list of symptoms common to constant elevated blood sugar begin, which can also be called advanced insulin resistance symptoms, since it is both conditions that begin the breakdown of health as organs begin to die. Both insulin and blood sugar levels are too high when the body can no longer absorb insulin efficiently.

Heart Disease

Vision problems

Hardening of the Arteries

Damage to Artery Walls

High blood pressure

Increased Cholesterol Levels

Vitamin/Mineral Deficiencies

Kidney Disease

Weight Gain/Obesity

Too much sugar in the blood leads to increased thirst in the body's attempt to get rid of the extra sugar. This results in increased urination and puts extra burden on your kidneys.

When your body can no longer produce any insulin and resists even the insulin you take through injection, you begin to experience the worst of the insulin resistance symptoms such as:

Neuropathy (nerves tingling & dying)

Amputation due to poor circulation

Kidney failure

Heart disease

Blindness

Premature Death

Enough to scare the pants off a person - isn't it? Many just accept this medical diagnosis without a whimper, but by exploring the natural, God-given, healing miracles of nature and opening your mind just a little, perhaps you can change your future somewhat.

If you suspect insulin resistance symptoms, check with your doctor. You can add a self check to help your doctor do a diagnosis -- eliminate processed carbohydrates from your diet and observe if it affects your symptoms.
